Could you be a hero? These stories are heartwarming.

9/11 stirred profound sentiments from foreign relations policies to the acts of heroism in the aftermath of the attacks.  We chose to focus on the acts of kindness and compassion.

Caring people stepped forward to save lives and recover.  We need people like this for us to thrive throughout the entire world.  Could you be one of those kinds of heroes in your own community?

Below are examples of ordinary people, being extra-ordinary.

Everyone can be a hero.  (This one left me with tears of joy for what is possible)

September 11th the largest boat lift in American history occurred and half a million people were evacuated from Manhattan in 9 hours.

How did this happen? What heroism made this possible? Do you have it in you?  The following is a documentary short film, BOATLIFT, narrated by Tom Hanks.

We encourage you to take a moment to view it and remember the acts of heroism, large and small, displayed on this day that we will never forget.

Head of Security at the World Trade Center

Rick Rescorla was the head of security for Morgan Stanley since 1987, and from the first day on the job he predicted a disaster like the 9/11 terrorist attack.

He found breaches in security and made very serious attempts to improve security measures to protect two of the tallest buildings in the world.

When the attack occurred Rescorla climbed the stairs of the towers over and over in an attempt to save as many people as he could, but he never left the towers.  He was supposed to be on vacation that day.   Saved hundreds of lives before dying in the tragedy that he knew all along was coming.

He is one heck of a great human being that should never be forgotten.  The world would be a much better place if we all could look out for each other.  We are 1.

I could be a hero too.  I am risking it all to help you protect your home, your life savings and loved ones….. BUT I need support to do this.  Will people hear me before it is too late?

Like Rick Rescorla, I take disaster prevention VERY seriously.  I don’t feel insurance companies do.  They are into profit maximization more than they are your well-being, so we must  gather our knowledge and experience to help each other.  We can do this!

The Pursuit of Holy Grail

This was a theme of Robin’s work and personal life for decades for about compassion for all, especially the vulnerable and teamwork.  He respected all forms of life.  It was quite apparent in everything he did, including the projects mentioned here.

Earth Day 1990 Dustin Hoffman and Robin Williams did a remarkable skit worth sharing.  The really do represent “every lawyer” and “every person.”

Lawyers don’t represent every person, only the people with money to pay them for their slick tongues.  They lather their bullshit all over you and then shove money in the judge’s pie holes.

BRAVO Dustin and Robin!  You guys knocked it out of the park!!

Robin wasn’t an active environmentalist, but he certainly cared about it very much.  I think he tried to address the problem with favoring teamwork and legacies over the pursuit of greed and profit.

These values were quite evident in Jumanji, Fisher King and the Night at the Museum series.  If you haven’t seen Night at the Museum 3, I highly recommend it.  I laughed my ass off at the brilliant double entendres and more importantly, this movie sheds light on the Holy Grail that has been presented in Robin’s other films too.

Some projects in our community are so big that they cannot be accomplished alone.  Together we are more capable, compassionate and better able to help each other thrive.

Below is an ENORMOUS project led by the Prince of Wales to slow down the dramatic deforestation of our most precious biological resources in the world.  Robin appeared in an online campaign for the project in 2009.

Robin Williams was fully behind the cause and commented at the time:

“There are so many things in the rainforest that must be preserved - I believe it is an exquisite part of the world. It needs us and, much more importantly, we need it. Please help.”

It’s not the dates that count, but what you do with the DASH

Learning about Robin’s life, how he lived it and how he loved is a heart warming journey.  Choosing what to share is incredibly difficult, especially if this might be the last time I publish on this website.

For this post I have chosen to share how fully he loved the people in his life, that choices were sometimes hard… but he gave his all and to anyone graced with the presence of his tender soul knows how special that gift is.

Below is the 2005 ceremony for the Cecil B. DeMille Award.  He has received many awards over his lifetime and besides the one from Comedy Day, this is one of our favorites.

The following video is based on interviews recorded by Lawrence Grobel for Playboy in 1991 which reveals his sensitivity and concern for the world around him.

Robin talks about future predictions, the philosophy of comedy, then breaks down the comedy of sex and the universal faces people make during lovemaking.

FINALLY he turns to the joys of having children and looks inward at his own shortcomings and, of course, being hairy.

Thank you to his family and friends for sharing this beautiful soul with the world.  It must have been very difficult at times to find a balance between boundless dreams and enthusiasm and the finite time we all have on this earth.

In the end none of us have very long on this earth.  …but for some, our legacies will last for many generations to come.

Love comes in many forms ~ “Hope in Motion”

Christopher Reeve is a hero to the human race that offered so much love, hope and courage to the world.

I am stunned by this incredible soul and wanted to honor Christopher Reeve as we celebrate Valentine’s Day and the LEGACY OF LOVE of Robin Williams.

I went to a thrift store for looking films with Robin Williams in them and found  “Christopher Reeve – Hope in Motion.

If you think life is hard, try living on a ventilator for 9 years and not being able to do ANYTHING but witness the world and communicate.

STOP READING and give it at least 10 seconds of thought on what you would do and what that would feel like.

Imagine it.  SERIOUSLY.

cr hope

His film, Hope in Motion, offers a perspective of what is did with his life and is an awesome experience to witness his soul.

He testified to congress to try getting more support for stem cell research and also offered an official statement to the members of the United Nations:

Barbara Walters made a beautiful acknowledgement of their friendship after Robin passed.

I encourage you all to think about the reasons why you loved Robin and how YOU will fill the world with the love, laughter and color to honor the souls the filled your heart with love and joy.  BeRobin is a global movement of love and it begins with you.  None of us live forever, but our spirits DO!

The powerful play goes on, and
you may contribute a verse.

What will your verse be?  (This is Christopher Reeve’s)

"I think a hero is an ordinary individual who finds strength to persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles..."

"ONCE YOU CHOSE HOPE ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE"

Christopher Reeve (1952-2004)

Downs Syndrome girl sings her Valentine to YOU!

I got teary eyed watching this girl sing.  Very few people with Down Syndrome will EVER be able to sing.

be_inspired_downs_girl

This 12 year old girl is defying the odds against her.  She must use twice the standard vocal energy to produce sound to speak!

She works hard to strengthen her voice to do this.    She ALSO has a sinus infection TOO during this recording.

This singer shares that “I want to inspire.”  By defying the odds, she’s doing just that by singing John Legend’s “All of Me” for YOU!

This is her Valentine to the world.

Here is her personal story:
