2022 Tribute to Robin’s Life
On August 11, 2014, the world was stunned to learn that Robin Williams had taken his own life. For a man who brought immense joy to the world, it was a profoundly tragic end. Many were unaware of the deeper story of Robin Williams’ death.
The movie, “Robin’s Wish” offers a close look at his final days, featuring accounts from those who knew him well, including his wife Susan, who courageously led the creation of this film to share their story. (Below is the trailer.)

It’s remarkable that Susan continues to share Robin’s story / their story. People who know her say she is an incredibly sweet person.
I hope that by sharing their story, Susan realizes it’s not the diagnosis that counts, but the journey that led to the illness. Disease labels tell us nothing about the cause or how to mitigate it. It isn’t a bio-marker they need to find, or wasted time in vain seeking answers as the days diminish. Those suffering, including their loved ones need spiritual peace to cope with decline.
The facts are clear to me due to what Susan shared in several interviews (((AND))) because I have experienced the same symptoms or conditions. I hope I can enlighten her and others with the book I’ve been developing since August 2021.
In my view, Robin’s illness wasn’t fundamentally unique in it’s progression. Millions face cognitive decline. What varies is the severity. Robin’s illness began decades earlier. What stands out for him uniquely is how rapidly it advanced at the end.
He was a warrior in every aspect of his life. From his incredible acts of kindness to his prolific performances that uplifted the human spirit. Yet one day, he no longer had the strength to keep the light within him.
It’s such a profound loss that such a beautiful human felt this way in his final days. Few truly comprehend immune system illnesses. Robin genuinely deserved the greatest comfort possible, and I wish we could have provided that to him.
In his bedside book he wrote “I want to help people be less afraid.” The truth is, he was feeling deeply afraid and couldn’t express it.
Mental illness carries such a harsh stigma. And also most people think mental and physical health are separate issues. THEY ABSOLUTELY ARE NOT!!!! Our flawed medical system reinforces some very damaging beliefs.
The study of human health is a deep topic. The brain and immune system are profoundly connected. The answers about the cause of decline won’t come from multi-million dollar foundations or their grants. The root of the issue is broader than any disease name or body part. For instance, a brain disease foundation requested millions of dollars to research tangled neurons and beta-amyloid plaques, which are effects rather than causes. That’s like blaming death on a bullet without asking who fired the gun.
Reframing the problem can be absolutely life altering. Susan has a beautiful light in her and I hope someday she might explore some ideas I can offer about the root cause of decline.
In doing so, it is my hope she will find the answers she has been looking for and that this can help her loved ones. In doing this, she will be truly offering the final gift I think Robin would have wished for.
More on this story during the next website tribute.
… God willing.
